Sub-title: A Murder and a Memoir
This is a powerful read. At the beginning of the story, the author is a young lawyer with a strong belief in fighting the death penalty. She learns of the case of Ricky Langley and it triggers memories in her own life. The story unfolds in layers, each chapter revealing deeper and more complex nuances. As we learn of the crime, we also learn of her life and about the ability to forgive. Highly recommended, I'm marking it one of my top reads of the year.
