Finally, a wonderful read for this hot summer! One of my favorite authors, Larson is a master at weaving factual details into a coherent story line. In this tome (585 pages, including the bibliography and notes) he tells of the day to day lives of Winston Churchill during the bombing of London in 1940 through 1941. I learned so much more about the devastation of the German bombing runs, the courage and equanimity of the English people and the triumph of a leader for the times. Uplifting, detailed and fascinating.
