One of my all-time favorite stories is Gone with the Wind, both the book and the movie. I didn't want to spoil my memories and hadn't sought out the sequels that were written. Earlier this year, I picked up this novel written with the approval of the heirs of Margaret Mitchell, though they went through a few different authors to get it written. I'm glad I picked it up.
The story parallels that of the original, but it is told from Rhett's point of view. It begins with his early life in the South and carries through to beyond the Civil War. The slow unfolding to reveal familiar characters and weave their lives into Rhett's was delicious. For fans, I would recommend.
